How to Find a Shopify Expert for your Store

One of the most valuable assets provided to a merchant on Shopify is the Shopify Experts. The platform provides a multitude of experts that are all on one directory for you to discover. These experts are great for helping you start up your eCommerce store and flourish as a business. However, while Shopify does an excellent job at providing top notch expertise for its merchants, it can be a little daunting to scroll through the crowd of experts.

With each expert shouting that they offer a unique experience, and with prices varying from a couple of hundred dollars to several thousand, merchants often a need little knowledge to help them find the right merchant for their store. Here at PropelAd we’ve comprised a list of what you should consider when finding your ideal Shopify Expert.

What Kind of Expert do you Want?

There are an abundance of Shopify experts doing an assortment of different things. Experts are divided into five different categories. These are Setup Experts, Designers, Developers, Marketers and Photographers and depending on what type of service you want pick your category accordingly.

However, within each category there is a diverse range of experts each with a different expertise and set of skills. It’s best to decide what you want your expert to do and then select accordingly so you do not end up being mismatched to an expert you cannot meet the needs of your eCommerce store.

Whats your Budget?

There is no set price for a Shopify Expert so budget is a large consideration for eCommerce merchants. Ranging from a couple of hundred dollars to several thousand dollars, the amount you are willing to spend is a large dictator when choosing an expert for your store. Therefore it is essential that you choose a budget that you are comfortable with and will help you reach your business goals.

Fortunately, Shopify allow merchants to view experts based on budgets so searching for someone within your price range is rather simple once you’ve decided what it is. However be realistic about what your budget will get you. Many managers expect top notch expertise for a minimal budget which may not happen without paying a little extra.

Search Out Information & Read the Reviews

Conveniently, Shopify facilitate its eCommerce merchants to review their experts. This means you can easily gauge an impression of the skills and effectiveness of each expert, making sure that the chances of your getting the right expert for you are substantially increased.

We also suggest researching their previous projects, and what kind of merchants they have previously worked with so that you can compare what they have done with what you are hoping to achieve. This will be a good indicator of how they will perform for your eCommerce store and act as a precursor for future success.

Talk to Experts

We suggest don’t just go with the first expert that catches your attention. Instead narrow down a selection of experts that you believe could potentially suit you and your business needs. Talking to three of four different experts and judging what viewpoints and directions they believe you should take will give you insight into what would suit your store best. It will also give you a clear picture of which expert is on the same page as you and which are not suitable at all.

Know Your Goals

So many eCommerce merchants decide to get a Shopify Expert yet don’t know why they are getting one. They think they need help with marketing or design but don’t know what exactly they want from their expert.

To avoid being directionless think of what you actually want and discuss this with your expert. Tell your expert what you would like, the goals you want to reach and the expectations you have for them and your eCommerce store so that you and your expert know what you are working towards.

And Finally...

Finding an expert can be daunting. There are hundreds who offer a varying array of services that may or may not be suitable for your eCommerce store. However as a merchant, if you clearly define what is wanted and communicate effectively with experts, you could potentially find one that fits perfectly with your eCommerce store.
